Ryan McCausland is  a freelance drummer and percussionist based between New York City and Los Angeles. Working within a wide variety of musical genres including Musical Theatre, Orchestral, Jazz, Contemporary, and Microtonal music, Ryan graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelors degree in Music Performance where he studied with Barry Centanni, Min Hye Ju, and Michael Lipsey. Apart from classical study at Montclair, Ryan also had the unique experience of working with Dean Drummond at the Harry Partch Institute while the program was still in residence at the university.

 

Ryan has an extensive background in Musical Theatre having worked as a musician with The Surflight Theatre, The Eagle Theatre, The Weston Playhouse, The Barrington Stage Company and The Mayo Performing Arts Center. Ryan is also a member of the Freelance Ensemble Artists of New Jersey Orchestra and the Garden State Jazz Orchestra. Since 2015, Ryan has worked an an orchestra drummer with Royal Caribbean and recently covered the Drum Set book on Mamma Mia. In 2017 Ryan toured with the National Tour of Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage and currently holds the drum chair on the national tour of Dear Evan Hansen.
